ABC's of Traveling: Destination

Welcome to my blog series the ABC's of Travel! Each month I will explore ideas, talk about past trips, things that have happened, things I would love to happen while going through the alphabet; A to Z. You can revisit my posts from the previous months, under the ABC's of Travel category. This month I tackle the letter D, Destination.
I previously talked about how I would love to visit London, and my bucket list for it. I have one for the whole UK and today I'm going to go over my list for exploring Ireland!

First off, I plan on staying in hostels and bed and breakfasts for two reasons:

• B&B's are more comfortable and the owners typically know all the good spots depending on what you like to do. Hiking? They know where to go to show you things you won't find on a tour or a map. Transportation to your next destination? They know which train, plane or if you should drive and the best way to get there, what time to leave, etc. 
• Cheaper than hotels and typically better service.

Some of the things I want to see and do:

1. Must drive around the world famous Ring of Kerry (I've got the best playlist planned!)
2. Who doesn't want to kiss the Blarney Stone high up on Blarney Castle ramparts? Okay, maybe not me because germs but it is definitely worth a visit. I love castles!
3. That brings me to going to Galway, the City of the Tribes to see the Rock of Cashel, the seat of the Medieval High Kings of Ireland for over 900 years. 
4. Cliffs of Moher for the obvious photographic reasons, but I love hiking and geology and the cliffs allow for both of those things!
5. I was brought up Catholic, though no longer identify with that. I still want to visit all the Cathedrals, including the St Patrick's, since the one in my old home town is modeled after it (they always said it was made from bricks imported from Ireland). I want to see if they were lying!
6. Temple Bar - You have to party just a little bit.
7. I'm not a big drinker of beer so I don't know that I would care too much for the Guinness factory, but bring on that Jameson whiskey!
8. I'm a total book worm and nerd so I want to visit Trinity College and see their library that has it has over 6 million printed volumes with extensive collections of journals, manuscripts, maps and music. The most famous of its manuscripts, the Book of Kells and the Book of Durrow are two of the things I definitely want to see.
